What’s next for Digital Marketing in 2016?

With over 20 years of experience in digital marketing, we’ve watched this industry grow, evolve and explode into the industry is it today. We’ve anticipated the influences of Google, Apple and Facebook has had on our society, and in return we’ve adapt our marketing strategies for each new trend.  Earlier this year WSI, published a blog post “What’s next for digital marketing in 2016”on our digital marketing blog on wsiworld.com, where we summarized our top 5 digital marketing trends for 2016.

So what does WSI predict for the year 2016?

1) We’ll all ditch the “digital” in digital marketing
Your marketing initiatives should be a collaboration both your online and offline initiatives. However, if your marketing and digital marketing initiatives are not aligned yet, this year should be the year to make that transition.

2) Consumers will start splurging with mobile payments
The rise in mobile devices is no joke, and we don’t see this trend slowing down anytime soon. With the rise of smart watches and NFC technologies we predict more retailers will be adopting mobile payments into their systems.

3) The content marketing monster will grow and grow
It’s critical for any business to go where your customers are, and right now they’re most likely on the researching their next purchase on the internet.  A great looking website is no longer enough to attract websites. With more prospects consuming information online, it’s essential for marketers to think like publishers and create useful and attractive content targeting their prospects pain points.

4) Ads will continue to read our minds
With the help of browsers tracking your web cookies, IP addresses and more, we predict personalized advertisements will flourish. Marketers will continue to leverage these tools to ensure their personalized ads target the right audience. So what does this mean for us? Ads that speak to our consumers’ interests and wants.

5) Predictive content tools will take center stage for business
As more and more business will continue to focus their attention to content marketing, to ensure there’s a ROI for their marketing efforts business will become smarter with what types of content will perform more effectively. No two businesses are the same, and the type of content you publish and syndicate will reflect on your clients and prospects interests. This year forecast more content tools will be utilized to help business determine what topics and types of content they should be focusing their efforts in.

The opportunities in digital marketing are endless. Digital marketing is on the forefront of change, and as this industry evolves small and medium business owners struggle to keep up with the tides.
